Escapees Magazine Review

By Marcella Gauthier (#12371)

This book chronicles the experiences Carol and Larry Tebo (#54720) had after leaving the trappings of “normal life” and becoming full-time RVers. Through their personal journeys and glimpses into the good-heartedness of the American people through working with Habitat for Humanity and engaging in disaster relief and recovery, they found a message of hope in all the good works and good people they met. The descriptions of working on a “blitz build” for Habitat for Humanity, the aftermath of a tornado and other natural disasters gave the Tebos a new perspective on life. As the Tebos say, “The strength of the human spirit. . ., the pulling together of communities. . . in time of crisis, and the outpouring of support and aid from all over the country stand out as beacons of hope.”

This is an inspiring book and well worth the read. Your heart will be gladdened during this holiday season to read of the abundance of under-reported goodness quietly expressing itself every day. And you may be inspired to follow in the Tebos’ footsteps and help contribute to the betterment of the world.

During the Tebos’ journey from a fear of the unknown and worries about financial security, guided gently by their trust in their inner voice, they arrive at a place where they are “living the authentic life we dreamed about with rich rewards and deep satisfaction that have accrued to us through serving others.” May they continue their good works.
